Glass Art

Art glass is a specifically designed glass that is manufactured and can be used in a more creative way but it can also be used for functional pieces. Different types of art glass, such as Stained glass, differ in there make up and cannot be joined into one fused piece.

Marbleized Vases & Trays

Each one of these unique pieces starts with a custom-made piece of glass that is created in my studio at a temperature of 1750 degrees. When the glass becomes fluid at that temperature I am able to draw, using a nail and a rod, my abstract floral design into the glass. Besides the lines, the nail also creates other aspects in the glass. During the process folds, air spaces and creases are created in the finished work. These areas are not flaws but are inherent parts of the process itself.

Glass Impressionistic Work

Moving water is normally the central theme in all of my glass Impressionistic work. Water plays such a major role in our daily life and it is always reflecting the world around us. It also has the ability to affect our moods. For me water has been a source of peace and a place of meditation since early childhood. With my work I attempt to catch a single moment in time. My lush forest scene shows the heavy northwest growth that often hides the source of the sounds we hear until it miraculously appears before us. My seascapes capture that instant a powerful wave crashes over jagged rocks before it fades into memory. In either case it is my hope that viewing my works will evoke some emotion or memory for the viewer of their own experiences.

Vases and Vessels

My vases and vessels predominantly focus on the simple relationship of line, shape and color. Occasionally I add the element of texture to some of the pieces. No two pieces are ever exactly alike. They are fused and draped in a kiln with only time heat and gravity influencing the outcome.
